Important – Public Hearing On Self Defense Bill This Thursday

January 18, 2009

MSSA’s Self Defense bill, HB 228, has been assigned to the House Judiciary Committee and the public hearing on the bill has been set for next Thursday, January 22nd. The House Judiciary Committee meets in Room 137, on the ground floor of the Capitol, at 8 AM.

A list of committee members is available here:
http://www.leg.mt.gov/css/House/house%20committees.asp

It is imperative that we impress committee members with how many Montanans want this bill to pass. Please circulate this email to all your gun-owning friends.

The most impressive thing you can do is to show up in Helena for the public hearing. If you can, that would be super. Be sure to review the material about how to appear before a committee at:
http://progunleaders.org/Legislative%20Process/hearing.html

If you cannot be there, you and ALL your friends must send messages to all committee members the day before the hearing. Ask members to please support HB 228. There’s information about how to contact legislators at:
http://progunleaders.org/Legislative%20Process/

Our Montana-made guns bill, HB 246, will be up for public hearing the same day, so please either send a separate message for HB 246, or include HB 246 in your request for legislator support.

If you need a refresher to communicate with legislators, my explanation of HB 228 is here:

You can read HB 246 here

Thanks loads for your help. Only by working together can we get the good bills passed!
